Sri V. Pattabhiraman

Sri V. Pattabhiraman a former Vice-Chairman of Bhavans Madras Kendra was a great benefactor of public institutions in Madras besides being a great champion promoter of cricket in Tamilnadu. He endowed the Bhavan in 1972 with a property worth several lakhs in a beautiful and sprawling 5.5 acre plot of land with a spacious building located at Kilpauk, a prominent residential locality in Madras .

Thus was born in June 1976, Bhavani Ammal School with classes I to IV. The school at inception was named after the venerable mother of Sri Pattabhiramanji, Later at the instance of Sri Pattabhiraman himself, the name of the school was changed to Rajaji Centenary Vidyalaya in 1979. When the Bhavan sponsored the Rajaji Centenary Committee to draw up programmes for running institutions after Sri. C. Rajagopalachari, the great patriot and elder statesman of India . The campus thereafter came to be known as Bhavani Campus.

In 1982 the name of the school was changed to Rajaji Vidyashram. In line with similar Vidyashrams run by the Bhavan in other centres. Sri Giani Zail Singh, President of India, laid the foundation stone of the new building in 1983.
